Jim Seymour - Theatre instructor

Jim Seymour has appeared in leading roles on Broadway, Off-B’way, television and at major regional theatres, including Playwrights’ Horizons, The Long Wharf Theatre, Trinity Repertory Company, and Portland Stage. As a director and theatre teacher he served on the faculty of Queens College (CUNY), Marymount Manhattan College, the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, and the University of Maine. A believer in the transformative powers of theatre training and participation, he celebrates improvisation and the love of ensemble acting, gaining inspiration from the practices of Sanford Meisner and Keith Johnstone. Currently a lecturer in Composition and Film at UMA, Jim was raised in New Jersey and spent most of his life in New York City, having received his BFA in Acting from Boston University and Ph.D. in Theatre from the City University of New York.
