Maine Arts Camp Philosophy
Maine Arts Camp is a small, nurturing camp community with a maximum of 90 campers per session. Our camp is a place where children and teens feel comfortable expressing their creativity while meeting likeminded kids. Because campers receive a lot of personal attention from our exceptional staff, they grow in extraordinary ways that help them lead happy, meaningful and productive lives. This includes improving social skills, learning to make decisions, becoming more resilient, and gaining other character-building tools.
Since we’re small we get to know our campers and staff as the directors—from learning everyone’s name, to knowing what’s happening with each camper. We also can be extremely selective in our hiring process, and we have a significant number of mature teachers on staff.
At Maine Arts Camp we partner with parents to provide their children with the opportunity to learn, grow, make friends and have fun. The partnership develops as we communicate with you throughout the year. Learning about your child in advance helps us understand how to tap into his or her unique strengths, while providing support in ways most needed.
It can be both exciting and overwhelming to search for the right summer camp for your child or teen. Each child is unique and will thrive better in certain environments than others. Our camp director, Rick Mades, has years of experience guiding families through this process. If you think we might be a good fit for your child, please give us a call. (561) 865-4330
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Rick Mades, Director
Since our camp is smaller than most overnight camps, we can be more selective in the hiring process, be it with the teachers and professionals who teach most of our activities or with the dorm staff who live with and care for our campers.
Maine Arts Camp is located on the campus of the White Mountain School in Bethlehem, NH. The White Mountain School is a small, close knit community, located in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire.

I just wanted to thank you for two wonderful camp experiences for Maggie – Last year, and even more this year. Listening to her talk on the way home, I realized that there is an assurance in the way she talks about camp that shows how very comfortable and self-confident she feels there. She has made wonderful friends and is already looking forward to next year. Thanks for creating a camp where the quieter, creative kids thrive! Thank you, Patty O

Rick & Co… Thank you so much for this beautiful letters about our girls’ time at camp. They are already talking about next year, what activities they want to try out, what they need to remember to bring, and have made friendships that will last a lifetime. Rick I wanted to thank you especially for creating such a safe haven for kids like mine. School is not always the easiest for both of my children, academically and more so socially, and I was worried about them being around kids that they didn’t know in a strange place. But you seemed to have created a wonderland for kind, creative, quirky like-minded kids and we are so happy to have found you and your team. I know the first couple days were touch and go, but they settled in so nicely and created so many lasting memories…here we are a week after pick up and every day is filled with stories about camp! We can’t wait for next year!! And hopefully for the family camp next summer too!! Sign us up!! Thanks again, Jess & BJ
