Tyler Bingham - Film making & Photography instructor

Tyler is new this year to the Maine Arts Camp, but not new to the summer camp experience. He was a camper for 6 years and on staff for almost a decade with Camp Koochiching. His love of lens based media production took off while teaching 8th grade Algebra in Burlington, NC; he had his math students shoot film directed by mathematical insight. For the past 13 years, Tyler & his son Jasper (who will be experiencing the Maine Arts Camp this summer) have lived in Silver City, NM. Tyler enjoys wearing multiple hats as an instructor at WNMU, teaching lens based media, art appreciation, and intermediate algebra. Somehow, he gets his students, regardless of the course, into the darkroom to experience the magic of the pinhole photograph each semester. His favorite people to photograph and film are artists creating their work, specifically musicians. There is an undefinable influence of what he hears with what and how he sees. He is looking forward to experiencing the thrill of surprise created by the artists this summer.
